The Dike-New Hartford Football team was not happy with the way the 2025 season went. The Wolverines went 5-3 in the regular season, and lost to Wilton, 50-14, in the first round of the playoffs. Head Coach Don Betts says the team is motivated this year, however.

Dike-New Hartford students will once again be able to start the school day with breakfast at no cost to families.

The district is offering free breakfast to all registered students for the fourth consecutive year, according to Dike-New Hartford Food Services Director Angie Callan.

A growing trend of people using electric bikes, or e-bikes, within the town has come with its fair share of comments, criticisms, and concerns amongst the residents of Grundy Center. The U.S. electric bike market has grown over 29% since 2025 and small towns are no exception to the trend expected to grow into 2027.

Multiple football championships, numerous playoff appearances from volleyball, baseball, and softball. GRUNDY CENTER — Grundy Center Community School District has announced several staff changes and additions to current roles for the 2026-27 school year, including positions in talented and gifted education, athletics and student activities.

DIKE — Dike residents may notice temporary changes in water pressure or discoloration this week as city maintenance staff conduct hydrant flushing.

The City of Dike announced that crews will flush hydrants throughout town Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents and investigations from Aug. 13 through Aug. 20.

Aug. 13 — Deputies received a report of a probation violation warrant for an individual on original charges of driving while barred and possession of marijuana, second offense. The warrant was entered into IOWA/NCIC with a no-bond hold.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck FFA members brought home ribbons and honors from livestock and horse competitions at the 2026 Iowa State Fair.

Delaney Petersen showed a Chianina heifer in the FFA breeding show Aug. 13, earning champion honors in her class. Petersen also received a buckle in showmanship.

GRUNDY CENTER — A garden planted as an ambitious end-of-the-school-year service project has continued to grow throughout the summer, giving Grundy Center K-Kids a chance to raise produce, operate mini farmers markets and support organizations in their community.

DIKE-NEW HARTFORD – Dike-New Hartford FFA members took projects ranging from livestock and horticulture to photography, food and agricultural mechanics to the Iowa State Fair this year, earning several top finishes while marking the chapter’s largest showing at the fair to date.
