Gladbrook-Reinbeck announces fall boys weight room schedule

REINBECK — Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community Schools has announced new fall weight room hours for boys, providing several early-morning opportunities for students to participate in strength training.

On Mondays, Coach Billerbeck will work with juniors and seniors from 6 to 6:45 a.m.

Dike-New Hartford football motivated after shaky 2025

The Dike-New Hartford Football team was not happy with the way the 2025 season went. The Wolverines went 5-3 in the regular season, and lost to Wilton, 50-14, in the first round of the playoffs. Head Coach Don Betts says the team is motivated this year, however.

Free breakfast returns for fourth year at Dike-New Hartford

Dike-New Hartford students will once again be able to start the school day with breakfast at no cost to families.

The district is offering free breakfast to all registered students for the fourth consecutive year, according to Dike-New Hartford Food Services Director Angie Callan.

Dike to flush hydrants Aug. 27-28

DIKE — Dike residents may notice temporary changes in water pressure or discoloration this week as city maintenance staff conduct hydrant flushing.

The City of Dike announced that crews will flush hydrants throughout town Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28.

The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reported the following incidents and investigations from Aug. 13 through Aug. 20.

Aug. 13 — Deputies received a report of a probation violation warrant for an individual on original charges of driving while barred and possession of marijuana, second offense. The warrant was entered into IOWA/NCIC with a no-bond hold.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck FFA members brought home ribbons and honors from livestock and horse competitions at the 2026 Iowa State Fair.

Delaney Petersen showed a Chianina heifer in the FFA breeding show Aug. 13, earning champion honors in her class. Petersen also received a buckle in showmanship.
