Lyle Gaston, 74, of Conrad, IA, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA.

Kent Murray Ford, 78, passed away peacefully at home in Columbia on July 31, 2026, after a recent cancer diagnosis. He was born in Eldora, Iowa, on April 6,1948, the son of Donna Joye Martin Ford and Harley Henry Ford.  Following high school graduation in 1966 from

Steve Slifer, age 76, of Filer, Idaho died Sunday August 9, 2026 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital.

Steve was born to Frances (Lindaman) and Ivan Slifer of Wellsburg, Iowa on April 5, 1950.  He contracted polio at age 4 before the vaccine was available.    He graduated from Wellsburg High School and from Indian Hills College in Ottumwa, Iowa.  At the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, he became a head cook.   

Harlan James Dirks, age 95, passed away on Aug. 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

A longtime resident of Toledo, Iowa, Harlan was born on Sept. 26, 1930, on the family farm in Grundy County to Henry and Minnie (Meyer) Dirks. At age three, his family moved to Grundy Center, where he grew up and graduated from Grundy High School. He attended Coe College before transferring to the University of Iowa, where he completed training in radiology.

Grundy Center- David Hamlin Leonard, 86, of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Avenue North, Clear Lake, Iowa 50428, with Lay Minister Al Berge officiating.

Gary Stewart, 80, of Richardson, Texas, passed away July 22, 2026. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on November 4, 1946, to Richard and Margery Stewart.  Gary grew up in Logan, Iowa. He is survived by Mary Ayers, Larry, Terry, and Patrick Stewart. He was cremated and there will be a Celebration of Life on October 10, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas.

Wayne Leroy Paige was born April 1, 1933, and died July 31, 2026. He was the sixth of seven sons born to Virgil A. and Myrtle C. (Bloxham) Paige. He married Marlene Ann Guhl on July 16, 1950. They were blessed with four children, Jack, Christie, Paul and Thomas.

Wayne attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake on a baseball scholarship. After college graduation his work career was primarily in farm real estate and other agriculture-related sales areas.

Nancy A. Woodley, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 19, 2026, leaving a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends. Born on March 9, 1939, in Ames, Iowa, Nancy spent her life as a beacon of love, humor, and unwavering devotion to those around her.

Mary DeVries (Conraads), 98, formerly of Dike, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Linn Manor Care Center in Marion, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Abels Funeral Home in Dike, Iowa. A funeral service and luncheon will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at the Liberty Baptist Church in Dike. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church cemetery in Holland, Iowa.

Charles Eugene Diehl, 82, of Eldora, Iowa passed away on June 27, 2026. A lifelong farmer, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Charles was a large presence (figuratively and literally) who was, at heart, a gentle giant who never knew a stranger.
