Wrestling roundup: Storm sweeps final duals

ELDORA – South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling won their three final duals of the regular season at South Hardin High School on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Storm narrowly defeated Eagle Grove, 35-34, beat South Hamilton, 45-24, and defeated West Marshall, 51-30.

STORM 35, EAGLE GROVE 34: Taylor Kolthoff's victory by technical fall at 120 pounds helped clinch this dual for the Storm.

Logan Aicher, Nick Curl, Lucas Gunderson and Carter Kolthoff won their matches by fall and Michael Fuller added a win by forfeit.

With Josh Graham of Eagle Grove needing a pin to win the dual in the 126-pound match to conclude the dual, Nick Feldpausch battled Graham to a loss by major decision, keeping Eagle Grove one pont short.

Eagle Grove won seven of the 12 head-to-head matches, but the Storm frequently denied bonus points to keep it close.

STORM 45, SOUTH HAMILTON 24: Taylor Kolthoff, Logan Aicher, Sev Gonzalez, Tucker Wall and Nicolas Paxton all won by fall to power the Storm to victory against the Hawks.

Michael Fuller added an 8-1 decision at 182 pounds and Carter Kolthoff and Lane Hartwig received forfeits at 106 and 113 pounds, respectively.

STORM 51, WEST MARSHALL 30: A pin parade allowed the Storm to take care of their NICL foe.

Taylor Kolthoff, Logan Aicher, Sev Gonzalez, Michael Fuller, Lucas Gunderson, Aiden Farnsworth, Nicolas Paxton and Carter Kolthoff all won by fall. Five of those pins were in the first period. Nick Feldpausch won by decision.

 

D-NH splits final home meet

Dike-New Hartford wrestling split a pair of duals at Dike-New Hartford High School on Tuesday, Jan. 28 in a home meet that was put together to make-up for wrestling time lost to inclement weather.

Dike-New Hartford defeated Waterloo East 48-22 but lost to Hampton-Dumont/CAL 43-27.

D-NH 48, WATERLOO EAST 22: Dike-New Hartford won four head-to-head matches and claimed four forfeits in this dual victory.

Nick Reinicke, Cole Graves, Dylan Ohrt and Jace Petersen all won their matches by fall. Aidan Walters, Joe Folkerts, Zach Starbuck and Jacob Leohr received wins by forfeit.

H-D/CAL 43, D-NH 27: The Wolverines won five of the 11 head-to-head matches with the Bulldogs in the loss.

Nick Reinicke, Aidan Walters, Zach Starbuck and Jacob Leohr all won by fall. Joe Folkerts won a 3-1 decision in the first sudden victory period.
