Unbeaten G-R boys stop Spartans

GRUNDY CENTER – Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball kept a steady advantage on Grundy Center to remain undefeated with a 65-42 win at Grundy Center High School on Thursday.

G-R junior William Kiburis posted a triple-double with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Caleb Egesdal added 18 points and Luke Riffey scored 12 points.

The Rebels jumped out to a 21-12 advantage after the first quarter and outscored Grundy Center 18-5 in the final eight minutes to pull away late.

Jalen Kirkpatrick led the Spartans with 12 points and seven rebounds; Tate Jirovsky chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.

D-NH 81, WEST FORK 45: The Wolverines made 12 3-point baskets and capitalized on 26 West Fork turnovers in last Thursday’s win.

Brewer Eiklenborg led D-NH’s offense with 17 points and added six rebounds and five assists. Jacob Stockdale had 16 points and led the Wolverines with four 3-pointers. Jerek Hall scored 15 points and Benton Bixby contributed 14 points.

D-NH led 38-19 at halftime.

SOUTH HARDIN 70, BCLUW 52: South Hardin blew open the game with 24 points in the second quarter to take a 39-21 lead at the halftime horn and eventually win this NICL West contest.

Parker Pike and Cayden McLeland scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, to pace the Comet offensive attack.
