Tscherter named NICL West's Outstanding Player

Gladbrook-Reinbeck junior Tyler Tscherter was named Most Outstanding Player as part of the All-NICL West baseball teams released on Monday.
  
Tscherter hit nine home runs in 37 at-bats against league competition this summer, collecting 29 RBI and batting at a .514 clip with an on-base percentage of .608 and a slugging percentage of 1.378. As G-R's top pitcher, Tscherter was 5-1 in six starts against league competition, allowing six earned runs in 37 and one-third innings pitched. He struck out 60 with 11 walks.
  
The Rebels finished in a tie for second with Grundy Center in the NICL West at 7-5, both teams finishing behind undefeated league champions West Marshall.
  
The Trojans dominated the first team – seven West Marshall players accounted for the 12 spots on the top team. Tscherter and Grundy Center freshman Brayden Sawyer were the only two area first-teamers selected.
  
Sawyer hit .306 in league play with nine stolen bases. In four starts, he allowed four earned runs in 22 innings pitched, striking out 21 with seven walks.
  
The second team includes AGWSR's Luke Starr, Brody Roder and Ben Macy; BCLUW's Jack Garber, Koty Kruse and Noah Gallentine; Grundy Center's Austin Knaack and Marshall Day; Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Cullen Eiffler and Jackson Kiburis.
 
Honorable mention was awarded to AGWSR's Wyatt Benning, BCLUW's Treye Teske, Gladbrook-Reinbeck's Keagan Giesking and Grundy Center's Jensen Clapp.
