Spartans tame the Tigers in 55-8 Homecoming win

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center Spartan football team capped off Homecoming week activities with a decisive 55-8 win over Iowa Valley at Spartan Stadium Friday night. The Spartans accumulated 419 yards of total offense in the win while holding the Tigers to 172 yards.
“I was really happy with our energy at the start of the game,” Grundy Center head coach Brent Thoren said. “We were focused and played with a lot of emotion. There are a lot of things going on with Homecoming, and it can cause kids to lose their focus. I’m happy for our kids and our fans that we were able to do some good things on Homecoming. We still have a lot to continue to improve on, but each week we continue to evolve in different facets of the game,” he said.
Senior Jordan Clapp, who led all rushers with 84 yards and two touchdowns, started the Spartans scoring frenzy with back to back touchdown runs in the first quarter. When Iowa Valley attempted to stop the Spartan ground game, the home team went to the air.
