Saturday's wrestling: Cougars battle in Britt

BRITT – AGWSR wrestling placed sixth out of six teams at the Al DeLeon Invitational on Saturday at West Hancock High School.

The winning team was Seaman (Kansas) with 261 points, followed by Central Springs with 259 and the host school with 200. The Cougars fielded only eight wrestlers, with most other AGWSR wrestlers competing in the previous day's Jones Brothers JV invite in Iowa Falls.

Four Cougars finished the day with winning records. Ali Gerbracht was 4-1 at 106 pounds, Trey Lashbrook was 4-1 at 120, Zach Johnson finished 3-2 at 132 and Brody Roder went 3-2 at 160.

Bo Gerbracht placed third with a 1-2 record on Saturday at 113, Jayden Bowles went 1-3 for third place at 126.

Kolthoffs win titles for Storm

ALLEMAN – South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling crowned two champions in the varsity division at the North Polk Comet Invitational on Saturday in Alleman.

Carter Kolthoff won the 106-pound championship, Taylor Kolthoff claimed the title at 120. Kade Pekarek added a 3rd-place finish at 160 pounds and Mason Sodders was fifth at 152.

Carter Kolthoff won the championship match by tech fall against Colfax-Mingo's Noah Strohmeyer by a 18-2 score in the second period. Taylor Kolthoff pinned Forest City's Brock Moore in 1:49 for his title.

The Comets fielded five wrestlers total in the varsity tournament; Michael Fuller went 0-2 at 170 pounds.

A-P/GC 10th at Iowa Falls

IOWA FALLS – Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center had three wrestlers earn top-six finishes at the Jones Brothers Invitational at Iowa Falls-Alden High School on Saturday.

A-P/GC finished 10th as a team. The host school scored 261.5 for first place, followed by West Marshall with 169.5 and North Butler-Clarksville with 162.5.

Connor Kellum was fourth at 120 pounds, Matt Jansen took fourth at 152 and Cadyen Shepard was 5th at 126 pounds.

D-NH wins two home duals

DIKE – Dike-New Hartford wrestling won two of the four duals contested at a home dual tournament at Dike-New Hartford High School on Saturday.

D-NH defeated Saint Ansgar, 48-27, and South Winneshiek 45-30. Dowling Catholic defeated D-NH 54-16, Mount Vernon topped the Wolverines 54-24.

Wolverine 126-pounder Dylan Ohrt won all four of his matches on Saturday, Nick Reinicke was 4-0 at 145 pounds. Jace Petersen (138 pounds), Caden Ragsdale (132) and Cole Graves (160) went 3-1 for the Wolverines.
