Ruby Schulta

Ruby Schulta passed away peacefully on Oct 22, 2023 after a short illness.

There will be a celebration of life Nov. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. in Kearney, Mo. at the home of Mike and Denise Schulta. There will be a memorial and burial service in Grundy Center in the spring at a date and time to be determined later.

Ruby was born in Missouri and raised in Reinbeck, where she graduated from high school. She then married Elmer Schulta on Oct. 22, 1949. They resided in Grundy County while Elmer farmed and Ruby worked as a clerical aide at the Grundy Center High School. Elmer and Ruby spent most of their retired lives traveling south in the winter and north in the summer. They lived for several years in Forsyth, Mo., Waterloo, Grundy Center and the past four years in Kearney, Mo.

Ruby was a kindhearted woman who lived a long, wonderful life. Everyone who knew her loved her and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Elmer Ray Schulta, daughter Cinda Tully (Dennis Fields), daughter Linda Shonkwiler, son Mikel Schulta (Denise), Grandchildren Donnie Shonkwiler (Misi), Lori Miller, Jamie Tully, Trevor Tully (Aly), Nicole Bye (Josh), Rachel Schulta, Makenzie Schulta, great-grandchildren Kai Shonkwiler, Nolen, Dylan and Drew Miller, Mason and Walker Bye, sister Marie Heithoff, sisters-in-law Ella Petersen, JoAnn Weatherly and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was proceeded in death by parents William (Bill) and Gladys Ragsdale, sister Idabelle McIntire, brother Bill Ragsdale, infant daughter Cathy Rae Schulta, son-in-law Hudson Shonkwiler and several sisters and brothers in-law, nieces and nephews.
