Bob was born on Dec. 17, 1937, at home in Wellsburg to Carl and Verdena (Kaiser) Brower. He attended school through the eighth grade in Holland and graduated from Grundy Center High School in the Class of 1956. Bob was in the Army Reserves from 1958 until 1962. He was called into active duty in 1960 through 1962 due to the Berlin Wall Crisis. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Bob returned to Iowa and started his own trucking company he operated for 43 years until his retirement in 2002.
Bob was united in marriage to Darlyne Aswegan on Dec. 14, 1973, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Together they welcomed their daughter Kimberly and son Kyle into their family.
Bob was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wellsburg, where he served the church on the council. He enjoyed hunting with his friends and family. Bob loved to play fast pitch softball. He played from the seventh grade until 1978. Bob loved to visit with people, he was a people person. He especially enjoyed coffee with his friends in the mornings. However, Bob’s true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bob’s hero was Roy Rogers. He always said Roy had good morals.
