Meet the new Grundy Center school staff

GRUNDY CENTER — Several new faculty and non-faculty members will be coming on board in the Grundy Center Community School District as the school year begins this week. Among the new people are a new superintendent, three new teachers at the secondary building, one new teacher at the elementary, two new associates, a new food service director and a new cook.
Jerry Schutz, Superintendent — Schutz comes to Grundy Center with more than 20 years of educational experience, including nine as a superintendent. He also served six years in the U.S. Army, including a tour in Europe with NATO forces. The Wisconsin native has worked in that state as well as South Dakota and Illinois prior to coming to Grundy Center. He has completed doctorate coursework at Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wis. (all except a dissertation). He and wife Anna have five adult children and 11 grandchildren.
Caleb Bonjour, sixth/eighth-grade — Bonjour will teach sixth-grade English, language arts and social studies this year as well as eighth-grade reading. The Central College graduate most recently taught sixth-grade reading in at Pella Community School District while serving on various leadership teams and helping to develop new initiatives. He is currently entering the final year of the master’s program in instructional leadership through Viterbo University. The move to Grundy Center brings Caleb and his wife Amanda closer to their families in Webster City and Waverly. The couple welcomed their son Lincoln within the past year. In addition to teaching, Bonjour will also be coaching junior high football this fall.
