TRIPOLI – The Grundy Center girls basketball team found plenty of extra possessions on the floor during a 58-35 win against Tripoli on Monday, Dec. 16.

The Spartans (4-1) had 24 steals as a team and outrebounded the Panthers (3-4) 39-25, including 20 offensive rebounds. Grundy Center scored on 26 of 74 field-goal attempts.

Lainy Thoren led a trio of Spartans in double figures with 13 points, adding a team-leading 10 rebounds to go with six steals. Leslie Homeister and Bailey Reding contributed 12 points each, with Homeister grabbing seven rebounds and Reding swiping seven steals.

Grundy Center led 16-9 after the first quarter, 33-13 at halftime, and have now won four games in a row since a season-opening loss to state-ranked Roland-Story.
