Girls golf roundup: Grundy Center wins in Nashua

NASHUA – Brylee Hoeg shot a 44 and Grundy Center girls golf won a triangular with Nashua-Plainfield and Crestwood at Nashua Town & Country last Thursday.

The Spartans scored a 209, followed by the hosts with 239 and Crestwood at 258.

Hoeg had the low round as medalist and teammate Abbie Lindeman was the runner-up with a 47. Jessica Saak and Bailey Reding closed out the scoring with a 58 and 60, respectively. Isabelle Ruth shot 63 and Leah Larson 65 as non-scorers for the Spartans.

EAST MARSHALL TOPS COUGARS – Brianna Kruger earned the runner-up medal with a 56, but East Marshall defeated AGWSR 233-251 at Wandering Creek in Marshalltown on Monday, April 25.

Avery Lafrenz added a 61, Claire Diamond shot a 66, Gabrielle Kruger and Jaelyn Graham each shot 68 and Gianna Flores came in with a 72.

D-NH GIRLS WIN WATERLOO QUAD – Maryn Bixby led D-NH girls golf to a win in a quadrangular with Waterloo Columbus, Cedar Rapids Xavier and Aplington-Parkersburg at South Hills Golf Course last Friday.

The Wolverines shot a 201, 10 strokes better than the Sailors. Xavier had a 230 and A-P did not field a full team.

Bixby had the low round with a 47, followed by Taya Curtis with a 49 and Jillian Beuter shooting a 50. Whitney Wauters closed out the scoring with a 55; Samantha Anema contributed a 70.

DIRKS, SPARTANS WIN WEST MARSHALL 18-HOLE - Avery Dirks won a tiebreaker to finish first on the individual leaderboard, and the Spartans topped the team standings as well at Lincoln Valley in State Center last Tuesday.

Avery Dirks had an 87 after the 18-hole tournament. The Spartans scored a 369, nine strokes better than Roland-Story. BCLUW was fifth with a 400.

Brylee Hoeg was one stroke off the leaders with an 88; Abbie Lindeman added an 89 and Bailey Reding closed out scoring with a 105. Leah Larson and Jessica Saak added non-scoring rounds with 106 and 113, respectively.

Maleah Jones was sixth overall to lead the Comets, carding a 93. Lindsay Beeghly shot a 97, Sydney Anderson a 103 and Brooklyn Backoff a 107. Tatum Ridout added a 146.

BEUTER, D-NH GIRLS BEAT UNION - Dike-New Hartford girls golf defeated Union last Tuesday, April 19 at Fox Ridge in Dike.

The Wolverines defeated Union 194-228. D-NH’s Jillian Beuter was the medalist with a low round of 44. Anna Syharath shot 49 as the runner-up. Maryn Bixby shot a 50 and Whitney Wauters followed with a 51. Taya Curtis and Samantha Anema contributed a 55 and 60, respectively.

TIGERS TOP COUGARS ON TOPP’S TIEBREAKER - Emma Topp’s round ended up pushing South Hardin girls golf past AGWSR at Ackley Country Club on Tuesday, April 19.

Topp, the No. 5 golfer for the Tigers on Tuesday, shot a 66, but when both teams’ top four golfers tied with matching 225 team scores, Topp’s score was used to break the tie, three strokes better than AGWSR’s No. 5 score, Giana Flores with a 69.

AGWSR’s Brianna Kruger led the individuals with a 48 for medalist, and Avery Lafrenz and South Hardin’s Bella Keaveny shared runner-up medalist honors with a 52.

Taryn Day and Gabby Kruger shot 60 and 65 to round out AGWSR’s traditional scoring. Jaelyn Graham came in with a 76.
