On August 26, 1961, he was united in marriage to Catherine Ann Gienger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua and the couple made their home in Beaman. Following those endeavors, Don became a terminal manager at Midland Transport of Marshalltown and terminal manager at Panama Transfer in Wellsburg, He later worked at Green Pet Products of Conrad. After nearly fifty years of hard work, Don retired in 2008 but still trucked fertilizer seasonally for Farm Service until 2013. Don enjoyed his horses and dogs, working on his own vehicles and was especially fond of his stray cat, “Bud”. He loved to mow and maintain his lawn and his friend’s acreage, receiving many compliments over the years. When relaxing, Don liked to watch sports on TV. He was well-known around town for cruising in his old Chevy pickup.
