Dike-New Hartford girls cross country 2nd at Bob Scott Invite

WEST UNION – Dike-New Hartford girls cross country was the runner-up at the Bob Scott Invite hosted by North Fayette Valley in West Union on Thursday.

The Wolverines scored 76 points, 10 points short of winners South Winneshiek, currently ranked 10th in Class 1A. D-NH ran ahead of 1A No. 5 Kee and 1A No. 14 Sumner-Fredericksburg in the team standings.

Izzy Houts, a freshman, ran fourth in 21:09 to lead the Wolverines. Taylor Kvale was fifth in 21:22. The rest of D-NH's top five was Alexis Jensen in 18th in 22:47, Ella Costello in 23rd in 23:19 and Zoie Callan in 26th in 23:24. Kaity Houts and Jadyn Bennett were 27th and 30th, respectively, as non-scoring runners.

Kee's Haley Meyerá was the individual winner in 19:24.

The D-NH boys were fifth in the team standings with a 112 score. Jacob Gibbs was 14th in 19:35 to lead the Wolverines, followed by Tyler Nystel in 16th in 19:41 and Ian Steffen, 17th in 19:42.

North Fayette Valley won the team title with 48 points, followed by South Winneshiek with 87 points. NFV's Peyton Halverson won the individual title in 18:05.
