Council turns down TIF request

GRUNDY CENTER -- The Grundy Center City Council last Tuesday declined a request for a development agreement that would have brought up to five new jobs to the city.
The proposed development agreement was with Tyler Duda for construction of a new building that could have been for Elite Body Creation, which is currently located downtown. Councilman Dave Stefl initially asked if the property was at risk for flooding, and Mayor Brian Buhrow noted that the property is not in the flood plain. Stefl later noted concern about past history with Duda. Council member Janetta Miller, a member of the TIF Committee, said the committee has to think of what is in the best interest of the city and cannot consider the individuals involved.
