AGWSR golf win home openers

WELLSBURG – The AGWSR boys golf team had three golfers in the top five individuals, winning a triangular with Aplington-Parkersburg and BCLUW at Meadowbrook Golf Course on Tuesday afternoon.

AGWSR finished with a team score of 162, ten strokes better than Aplington-Parkersburg’s 171 final score. BCLUW followed with a 191.

Cougar senior Trey Lashbrook was the meet medalist with a 37 and Daniel Stahl posted a 39 as runner-up. Ben Macy added a 40 for the Cougars and Bo Gerbracht scored 46 to round out the four team scorers for the Cougars.

Ray Callaway scored 42 to lead the Comets. Mason Martin shot 47, Bodie Butler holed out at 49 and Lincoln Stover hit 53.

GIRLS IN ACKLEY: Alayna Hunt was the individual runner-up as the AGWSR girls golf team won their home opener, a triangular with BCLUW and Aplington-Parkersburg at Ackley Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

AGWSR had a 217 team total, better than BCLUW’s 233 final score.

A-P did not field a full team, but Falcons freshman Kendall Riherd was the meet medalist with a low score of 47.

Hunt followed with a 48 on her scorecard. Hannah Homeyer shot 49, Natalie Gerstein shot 58 and Taryn Day was the No. 4 scorer with a 62.

Sydney Anderson shot 53 to lead BCLUW, followed by Lindsay Beeghly with 55, Brooklynn Backoff with 60 and Maleah Jones with 65 as the team scorers.
