AGWSR girls track 3rd at Eldora Co-Ed

ELDORA – AGWSR girls track and field led the area competitors with a third-place finish in the girls team race at a South Hardin Co-Ed on Friday.

The Cougars scored 122 points, trailing champions Wapsie Valley (133) and runners-up South Hardin (128). BCLUW was fifth with 112 points.

AGWSR won five events; in the field competitions, Abby Veld was first in the discus with a throw of 104 feet, 4 inches and Ava Olson cleared 5-1 in the high jump. On the track, Brynn Smith was first in the 400 in 1:03.43; Karis Lippert won the 800 in 2:35.43 and Elizabeth Kielty claimed the 3,000 in 13:34.23.

Kenna Paxson was BCLUW’s only winner on Friday, crossing first in the 400 hurdles in 1:13.88.

On the boys’ side, BCLUW was fourth with 105 points and AGWSR fifth with 67.5 points. Denver scored 155 points to claim the team title.

The Comets’ Connor Lynch won the mile run in 4:58 flat. Nick Pieper, Henry Kaisand, Cayden McLeland and Cayden White teamed up to win the 4x800 in 8:57.14 and Liam Speicher, Benny Runge, Lane Hartwig and McLeland were a winning quartet in the distance medley, time of 4:07.77.

AGWSR’s Jeffrey Pfaltzgraff was first in the two-mile in 11:13.45 and was second to Lynch in the 1,600. Darren Veld and Aiden Heitland went 1-2 in the discus; Veld won with a throw of 115 feet even and Heitland measured 112-10.
