AGWSR girls track 2nd in Eldora

ELDORA – AGWSR girls track and field placed second at the South Hardin Co-Ed on Friday.

The Cougars scored 145 team points. Iowa Falls-Alden ran away with the team title, scoring 210 points.

Katelyn Pfaltzgraff won the 400 hurdles for the Cougars in 1:12.95. Ava Olson and Lila Vaughn went 1-2 in the high jump after clearing 4-6 and 4-4, respectively. Abby Veld won the shot put with a top throw of 34 feet, 5.5 inches. In the relays, AGWSR’s 4x800 team of Alyssa Hames, Kierra Dodd, Pfaltzgraff and Karis Lippert won in 10:48.71.

AGWSR racked up plenty of silver medals: Elizabeth Kielty in the 3,000, Kylie Willems in the discus, and the 4x1, 4x2, sprint medley and distance medley relay teams. The Cougars placed third in the 4x400.

In the boys’ team race, AGWSR was fourth with 86 points.

AGWSR won four events: Cale Culver in the 100 in 12.01, Jeffrey Pfaltzgraff in the 1,600 in 5:06.54, Darren Veld in the discus after throwing 132 feet, 4 inches and Aiden Heitland throwing 41 feet, 4.75 inches to win the shot put.

The Cougars tied Iowa Falls-Alden for second in the 4x100 relay. Cale Culver was third in the long jump.
