Zachariah Thomas

Zachariah Nathaniel Thomas, 41, of Holland, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at his home.

A visitation for Zach will be held Friday, December 1, 2023, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Ivester Church of the Brethren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Ivester Church of the Brethren with interment to follow at Sheller Cemetery.

Zach was born February 19, 1982, to Sherri Cox and Paul Thomas in Marshalltown, Iowa. He spent much of his early life in the Eldora-Ivester area. He later went on to attend McPherson College, where he majored in automotive restoration. He was united in marriage to Taresa Lafrentz on August 6, 2022, at their home in Holland.

Zach held many jobs in his life, working for Pine Lake Foams, Inc, PCI, farming, and most recently working as warehouse manager at ELM. He enjoyed rebuilding things and automotive repair. He loved hunting, fishing, and bonfires with friends. He also enjoyed building things, and previously made toyboxes for underprivileged children. Zach was a caring person and always wanted to help people as much as he could.

Zach is survived by his wife, Taresa Thomas; daughter GG; Mother Linda Thomas; brother Jacob (Maud) Thomas and children Aethel and Briac; stepbrothers Andrew Helmly and Jeff (Lynn) Helmly and their daughter Andi Lynn; beloved companions Barny and Pixie; as well as many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul, birthmother, Sherri, grandparents Marvin and Marjorie Thomas and Warren and Ritta Kurth, and favorite dog, Eddie.

Zach’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to all family and friends who have offered their support and compassion at this difficult time.
