“Operation Christmas Meal” made a morning stop on Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Grundy Center Community Center to provide free 5-pound pork loins to local families in need.

The initiative, a tandem effort with the Deb & Jeff Hansen Foundation and Iowa Select Farms, is a hunger relief effort that started in 2011 to provide Iowa families a helping hand, especially during the holidays.

It was the first time that the group had made a delivery in the Grundy Center region, providing drive-through service to those who pulled through the Community Center parking lot.

In all, the four-day journey across Iowa stopped at 12 communities to make the pork loin deliveries. After leaving Grundy Center, the group passed through Webster City before returning to the Iowa Falls Iowa Select Farms location for the final distribution of the season.
