Alice Goodman

Alice Goodman, age 78, of rural Marshalltown, passed away in the peace of her home with family at her side and in care of the Iowa River Hospice on the evening of Sunday, November 29th, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3rd, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish - St. Henry Catholic Church in Marshalltown with Fr. Alan Dietzenbach officiating. She was laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Haverhill. Visitation was be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2nd at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Born on March 30th, 1942 in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Orville and Anna (Medhus) Specht. She received her education at Beaman Conrad Schools in Conrad and graduated from Beaman Conrad High School in 1960. On June 18th, 1960, she was united in marriage to Donald Goodman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown. They resided on the family farm in Haverhill where she raised 5 kids. They later moved south of Marshalltown.
 
Alice was a member of Lincoln Valley Golf Association, Saint Monica’s Society, Saint Francis of Assisi Parish and a lifetime member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church prior to moving membership to St. Henry’s. Alice devoted her life to faith and family. Family was her passion and she enjoyed attending her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an avid bowler in her younger days and enjoyed playing golf and wintering in Texas.
 
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Chris (Laurie) Goodman of Champlin, MN, Kevin (Dana) Goodman of Haverhill, Gary (Jacque) Goodman of Marshalltown, Sue Goodman of State Center and Deanna Goodman (Michael O’Sullivan) of Ft. Collins, CO. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren: Sydney, Sam, Christian (Cassidy), Brennan, Quinn (Kevin-fiancé), Elizabeth, Ashley (Andrew), Grant, Alex, Emma (Tavares), Serena, Molly (Wade), Claire, Marcus, Jena (Aaron) and Kieran; six greatj-grandchildren: Laken, Brecken, Jozhias, Carter, Nova, Aiden; sister Louise (Jack) Grove; brother Don (Gilda) Specht; brother-in-law Bob Valastak of Boulder, CO and sister-in-law Sue (Marc) Wyman of Greenwood Village, CO, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
 
In death, Alice rejoined her husband, Don, parents Orville and Anna, sister Marjorie Ferneau, brother Joseph Specht, In-laws Clarence and Iva Goodman, nephew Barry Specht, brother-in-law Ronald Goodman, sister-in-law Janet Valastak and in-laws Helen Goodman, Angela Frye and Jack Naughton.
