After scheduling and then canceling a public meeting in Grundy Center approximately a month and a half ago, Republican U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) will make it up here on Friday at the community building.

The event will begin at 1:00 p.m. and is open to the public. According to an e-mail release, Ernst hopes to “hear from constituents in the area about the issues most important to them.”

Ernst will also attend a luncheon at the PT Grillers Event Center in rural Grundy County prior to the town hall with fellow Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) and State Rep. Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford).

The meeting comes on the heels of a delay in the confirmation vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, which was originally set for Thursday, to allow for an additional hearing. A simple majority of Senators will determine whether or not the D.C. Appeals Court judge will succeed the recently retired Anthony Kennedy on the nation’s highest court.
