History: West Sioux won its first state title in school history last season in Class A with a 35-14 victory over Hudson. This is the 12th playoff appearance all-time for the Falcons. Dike-New Hartford is making its fifth appearance in a championship game since the school district consolidation, its first since 2010. The Wolverines are 0-4 in championship games. Dike won a state title in 1981.
 
By the numbers: D-NH is averaging 44.7 points per game and allowing 7.6 per game. West Sioux averages 43.1 per game and allows 15.2 per game.

West Sioux key players: Hunter Dekkers threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns in last Saturday's semifinal win over Van Meter, last year's Class 1A champion. Dekkers also rushed for two more touchdowns. Chase Koopmans added a rushing and receiving score on five catches for 102 yards. Logan Koedam recorded 4.5 total tackles, with two total tackles for loss and a fourth-quarter sack of Van Meter quarterback Anthony Potthoff that sealed Saturday's victory.
 
Dike-New Hartford key players: Cade Bennett rushed 33 times for 152 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's semifinal win over Pella Christian. Drew Sonnenberg completed 10-of-19 passes for 281 yards and two touchdowns. Cade Fuller caught six passes for 147 yards. Nathan Graves recorded 10 total tackles, including three for a loss. Parker Kiewiet picked off Pella Christian twice in the semifinals and has four total interceptions in the playoffs.
 
Worth noting: Dike-New Hartford's most competitive opponents in Class 1A have ranked in the top 10 of 1A for pass attempts (Iowa City Regina 4th, 281 attempts; Pella Christian 10th, 231 attempts) – West Sioux has averaged 26 pass attempts per game this season and has completed nearly 61 percent of 317 total attempts, the 2nd-highest total in 1A (Osage, 330 in 10 games).
