Main Street Committee puts best foot forward

DES MOINES — It’s all over but the waiting for the Grundy Center Main Street Committee ... unless it’s not.
Last Thursday a group of nearly 30 interested Grundy Center individuals met at the Iowa Department of Tourism Office to promote the city to be Iowa’s next Main Street Iowa Community.
The presentation took the form of a three-act movie. Dr. Paul Eberline introduced the segments, which focused on Grundy Center with the themes of popular 1980s movies “Back to the Future,” “Top Gun,” and “Field of Dreams.”
“It features story lines that are typical of many Iowa small towns,” Eberline told the committee. “It includes a starring case of 2,706 community members who are working hard to preserve Grundy Center’s proud past while desiring a promising future.”
