Grundy Center girls drop close conference games

ELDORA – Grundy Center lost a pair of close NICL West games this past week, dropping a road game to South Hardin Friday, 56-54, after a 40-35 loss on their home court to Hudson on Tuesday.
The Spartans, who move to 9-7 overall and 6-5 in the NICL West, have just one game on the schedule this week against East Marshall at Le Grand on Friday, Jan. 30.
South Hardin 56, Grundy Center 54
Grundy Center led at the end of the first three quarters, 15-7, 26-25, 37-33. The Spartans were up 45-40 in the fourth period on a Stephanie Faust basket and two free throws by Katie Lindeman, and held the advantage 51-49 after two Kayla Mathews free throws before South Hardin scored the next seven points. The game ended on a 3-point goal by Alyssa Matthews, but South Hardin took the win 56-54.
