GC council, DOT to hold public meeting on three-lane conversion

In an effort to get public input on the DOT-suggested three-lane conversion in Grundy Center, the city council and DOT have scheduled an informational public meeting to be held next month.

Community members are invited to come to City Hall on Monday, April 15 at 5 p.m., where the city council will be joined by representatives from the DOT and INRCOG, who will give a presentation on the details of the suggested conversion, and hold a Q&A session where community members can voice their thoughts on the project.

The conversation on the possibility of a three-lane conversion was sparked earlier this year, when the city received the results of a TEAP (Traffic Engineering Assistance Program) Study the DOT completed late last year. The study results noted that speed was a concern on G Ave., and suggested that a three lane conversion would slow down traffic and improve safety of drivers and pedestrians.

During their Monday night meeting, the Grundy Center City Council listened to a presentation by Codie Leseman - a transportation planner with INRCOG.
