Ernst focuses on agricultural issues during Conrad visit

First term United States Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) toured Ritchie Industries in Conrad on Friday morning, learning more about the company, which specializes in automatic waterers for livestock, and answering questions from Ritchie employees and members of the press at the conclusion of her visit.
 
One question on everyone’s mind was whether or not Ernst, who was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2014, would accept the invitation if GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump were to come calling after Governor Terry Branstad recently suggested that the New York businessman should choose Ernst as his running mate. She stayed mostly mum on the issue, stating that she has only met Mr. Trump briefly in the lead-up to the Iowa caucuses. The senator did not indicate that any formal communication between Trump’s team and herself has occurred to this point.
           
“I’m focused on Iowa right now,” she said.
